“Tinubu Shouldn’t Pursue Re-election If He’s Wise – Former VP Candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed”

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, has advised President Bola Tinubu to abandon any plans for re-election in 2027.

Baba-Ahmed made these remarks during a Friday, April 18 appearance on ‘Prime Time,’ an Arise Television program. He stated that he believes Tinubu’s “time is up” and that the signs of an impending electoral defeat for the former Lagos governor are unmistakable.

“I expect Tinubu to step down if he is truly a smart politician. I’m not praising him in any way. It’s not good to be what he is, but I won’t say more. He skipped 2007, jokingly made Atiku the presidential candidate, then backed Buhari in 2015, and Buhari won. He skipped 2019, and they manipulated the 2023 election. If Tinubu is as smart as he claims, he should see that his chances in 2027 are slim. There are two potential candidates who are Tinubu’s nemeses, but I can’t name them,” Baba-Ahmed remarked.

He further asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is built on lies, claiming that former President Muhammadu Buhari failed to develop Nigeria and ensure security during his tenure.

“Buhari didn’t fight corruption, and Tinubu won’t either. Moving forward, I foresee the APC losing the next election. Nigerians will eventually unite and understand that if democracy cannot be properly practiced, it’s not meant for us. Then, the people will take a stand and finally practice democracy as it should be. The days of bad leadership will be over, and Nigeria will begin its healing process. We’ll recover, unite, and view each other as brothers and sisters. Their time is over,” he concluded.
