Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed her hope of leaving the Presidential Villa in 2031 to live in a country where she can enjoy a better quality of life as a woman in her 70s.
She made the remarks on Friday, October 23, during the official inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
“I want to leave Aso Rock in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.
The First Lady also responded to critics who argue that little progress has been made under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Making a reference to JigiBola, an eye-care initiative launched during her husband’s tenure as governor of Lagos State, she suggested that some Nigerians were failing to recognise the progress being made.
“So things are happening in Nigeria, except, you know, those who don’t see; maybe we’ll give them some, you know, Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, JigiBola,” she stated.
