Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions for the second time and a record-equalling 20th time in the top flight, with Dutch manager Arne Slot guiding the club to glory in his first season at the helm.

Sunday’s commanding 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield sealed the title for Liverpool, pushing them out of reach of their closest rivals, Arsenal, with four matches still remaining.

Liverpool’s only other Premier League title came in the 2019/20 season under Jurgen Klopp, when the COVID-19 pandemic prevented fans from attending matches.

This second Premier League triumph moves Liverpool up to fifth in the all-time rankings for outright league titles, just behind Arsenal’s three.

The victory is particularly significant for Liverpool, as they had previously won 18 top-flight titles before the Premier League era began in 1992/93, bringing their total to 20 league titles, which now matches the record set by their fierce rivals, Manchester United, who last won the title in 2012/13.
