Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has voiced his support for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to make a move to the English Premier League.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS during Soccer Sunday Live, Mikel responded to reports linking Osimhen with a move to Manchester United, stating that the club would not be a suitable destination if they fail to qualify for European competition.

“If that’s the case, then he doesn’t go to United,” Mikel said when asked if a lack of European football could deter Osimhen from joining the Red Devils.

The former Nigerian international also revealed that Osimhen has shown interest in joining Chelsea, though he admitted uncertainty about the striker’s final decision.

“I hope somewhere in the Premier League,” Mikel said. “I don’t know; we wait and see.”

He added that negotiations between Chelsea and Osimhen had already progressed significantly last summer, suggesting a move could be revived.
