The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several of its members who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This decision was announced in a statement released on July 31 by the party’s Elders Caucus and local government chairmen across the state’s 20 LGAs. The statement, signed by spokesperson Mr. Segun Edwards, followed a stakeholders’ meeting convened to review the outcome of the PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last week.

According to Edwards, the party leadership expressed strong disapproval of members who publicly declared support for the ADC while still identifying as PDP members, calling it a violation of the party’s core principles.

“Rising from the meeting, the party elders and local government chairmen condemned the actions of those members who openly aligned themselves with ADC, stating that they have desecrated the principles of the party,” the statement read.

The enlarged Stakeholders Assembly unanimously passed a motion to expel all individuals who had openly declared for the coalition party. The decision received full support from all elders in attendance.
