Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has expressed deep concern that if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is allowed to continue in power beyond 2027, Nigeria may cease to remain a viable nation.

Speaking at a grassroots mobilisation event for the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto on Saturday, August 2, El-Rufai, once a key APC figure, declared his readiness to rally Nigerians to remove what he described as an “incompetent” government.

“I’m not in politics to gain personal benefits; I’m here to serve,” he said. “When a government fails to serve its people, it becomes my duty as a senior citizen to speak out, condemn the failures, and work towards reversing the situation.”

He added, “This is why we have united those opposed to the current government’s policies into a coalition, culminating in the adoption of ADC.”

El-Rufai warned, “If we allow this party and government a second term, the remaining social capital of Nigeria will be destroyed, and we may lose our country altogether. This is truly a fight for our survival.”
