The 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja, has handed over a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, to the Lagos State Police Command for impersonating a military officer.
Khalid was arrested at the Arena Market in Oshodi by soldiers after he was caught with a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major. He was promptly handed over to the police, marking a smooth inter-agency operation that highlights the strong collaboration between security forces.
Confirming the development, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the case has been transferred to Special Squad I. The unit will carry out a detailed investigation to uncover the origin of the forged ID, identify any possible accomplices, and determine if the suspect used the fake identity to commit other crimes.
Hundeyin added that the case will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Nigerian Army for its swift action and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of synergy among security agencies in combating crime and urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities. He assured that ongoing collaboration between security forces would continue to strengthen public safety across Lagos State.
