Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has revealed he feels “tremendous tension” whenever Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen heads off for international duty.

Osimhen, a crucial player for both club and country, was ruled out of Nigeria’s important 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa after sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday.

Speaking on the situation, Buruk said the Turkish champions are closely monitoring Osimhen’s condition.

“If there is a problem with Osimhen, we want to send a plane immediately and bring him back to Türkiye. We hope it’s nothing serious,” Buruk told Now Spor, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

The coach also described the worry he experiences whenever the 25-year-old is on international duty.

“I always have fears about sending him to the national team, but tonight we experienced that anxiety firsthand. I was at dinner when the waiter approached me with a phone showing the news about Osimhen. We managed to reach him, and he told us he was feeling pain in his foot.”

Osimhen’s absence is a significant setback for the Super Eagles as they prepare to face South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, continuing their quest for a spot at the World Cup.
