
Three suspects have been brought before the Ejioku Magistrate Court in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State for allegedly attacking officials of the Oyo State Fire Service while they were carrying out their duties.
The court ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. The incident occurred at Atari-Agbon in the Oki area of Olodo, Lagelu LGA, where fire service personnel had responded to a reported blaze. Authorities said the officers were allegedly assaulted by hoodlums attempting to loot property at the scene.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that one officer was injured during the attack and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Giving an update on Tuesday, February 17, Akinwande said the suspects were arraigned on charges of assault, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
“Three individuals were arraigned at the Ejioku Magistrate’s Court in the early hours of today (Tuesday) over the assault on fire officers at Oki. They were also charged with conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace. While three were arraigned, others are still at large. They have been remanded at Agodi prison, and the case has been adjourned until March 12, 2026,” he said.
Authorities added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who remain at large.
