The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly attempting to kill a 10-year-old boy for ritual purposes.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 22, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., when the suspect, Aliyu Ashabu of Kuidawa village, a self-acclaimed native doctor popularly known as “Boka,” allegedly lured the victim, Alhassan Usman, into a nearby bush and pushed him into a well.
The boy was rescued the following day, February 23, by a Good Samaritan and rushed to the General Hospital Katsina, where he was treated for varying degrees of injuries.
Police said the suspect was later tracked down and arrested during investigation. He reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming he was preparing charms for an accomplice identified as Khalid, who is currently at large.
Authorities said the case is being investigated as culpable homicide, unlawful juju, and cult-related offences.
