Nigerian skit maker and streamer Shank Comics has sparked debate online after claiming that comedians earn more than music artists.
Speaking during a livestream, he argued that many people assume musicians are wealthier simply because they are more likely to flaunt their riches than comedians.
He further suggested that leading Nigerian comedians like Bovi and Basketmouth are richer than Afrobeats stars such as Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
According to him, comedians tend to prioritize long-term financial security, often choosing to invest their earnings rather than spend heavily on luxury items like exotic cars.
“I think there is more money in comedy than music… they prefer to invest instead of buying cars,” he said.
