Troops rescue kidnap victim, neutralise three suspects in Edo

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnap victim and neutralised three suspected kidnappers during an operation in Sasaro Forest, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

The operation was carried out at about 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following a tip-off. According to the Army, personnel of the 195 Battalion (Reconnaissance), working in collaboration with other security agencies, participated in the operation.

The rescued victim was identified as Prince Michael Akao.

During the operation, the troops neutralised three suspected kidnappers and recovered three locally fabricated firearms, nine cartridges and other items.

The victim was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for medical attention and was said to be responding well to treatment.

The recovered items have been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS), while the bodies of the suspected kidnappers were taken into the custody of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
