Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu embodies the kind of leadership the Igbo people have long desired in their quest for inclusion and development.

Speaking at the APC presidential primary election in Umunaga Ward, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Umahi said the turnout of 5,009 party members reflected strong grassroots support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

He described Ebonyi as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and maintained that the South-East region had benefited greatly from the current administration through key appointments and major infrastructure projects.

According to Umahi, Tinubu has strengthened the South-East’s role in national politics by appointing people from the region to strategic positions and investing in critical development projects.

“Bola Tinubu is the Biafra we have been looking for — a leader who has integrated the South-East, given us significant appointments, and delivered important infrastructure,” he said.

Umahi also defended the administration’s economic reforms, acknowledging that Nigerians initially faced hardship but insisting the policies had begun to stabilise the economy.

“The macroeconomy is now stable, and the President is gradually extending the gains to the grassroots economy. The worst is over, and Nigerians will soon begin to experience the benefits,” he added.
