The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has appointed Anietie Iniedu as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the outgoing Force PRO, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as a highly experienced officer with a strong background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.

According to the statement, Iniedu hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication and intelligence analysis.

Iniedu succeeds Placid, who was appointed as the Force spokesperson in March 2026.

Before his new appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw public complaint management and led initiatives aimed at improving transparency, accountability and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He has also previously served as the Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, among other operational and administrative roles across the country.
