Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined South African Premier Division side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old returns to the Chilli Boys after spending the last seven months without competitive football, a period that affected both his club career and his place in the Super Eagles squad.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through its official social media platforms, welcoming the Nigerian international back to the Eastern Cape.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club said.
In a subsequent statement, the club added: “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali first joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and established himself as one of Nigeria’s top goalkeepers following his impressive performances during the Super Eagles’ run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
After leaving the South African club, the goalkeeper spent several months without a team, a situation that affected his international career and ultimately saw him lose his place in the national team.
His return to Chippa United offers the experienced shot-stopper an opportunity to revive his club career and push for a recall to the Super Eagles ahead of future international competitions.
