Troops of Sector 2, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have rescued a 37-year-old kidnapping victim during an offensive operation in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, identified as Malam Adamu Umar, was rescued at about 6:45 a.m. on August 10, 2026, on the outskirts of Kukawa village in Kanam LGA.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that Umar, an indigene of Furiyam in Kanam, was abducted from Duguri village in Bauchi State on August 6.
Umar reportedly escaped from his abductors and wandered through Madam Forest for several days before troops found him during the operation.
Following his rescue, the troops handed him over to the Kukawa village leader for onward reunification with his family.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of Operation ENDURING PEACE troops to disrupt criminal activities, restrict the movement of kidnappers and rescue victims held in remote forest locations across the region.
