Obasanjo’s Son Joins Tinubu’s Re-election Campaign Movement, Pledges Support for 2027

Hon. Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as Special Adviser on Political Affairs, pledging his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Obasanjo made the declaration during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, where he was received by the National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, and taken on a tour of the facility to familiarise himself with the organisation’s structure and operations.

He described his appointment as an honour and privilege, commending the movement for its grassroots mobilisation, community outreach and efforts to promote government activities.

Obasanjo said he had been following the organisation’s activities and was impressed by its initiatives, expressing readiness to contribute his experience towards achieving its objectives and supporting Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

He maintained that the President had started on a positive note, urging Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the administration’s ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance.

According to him, the country has recorded progress in areas such as salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities, adding that such achievements should be sustained.

He expressed optimism that continued support for Tinubu would enable the administration to consolidate its achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

The former president’s son also disclosed that he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, noting that his family allows members to maintain independent political views and pursue their political interests without hostility.

Adekanbi expressed confidence that Obasanjo’s political experience and understanding of grassroots mobilisation would strengthen the movement and expand its activities across the country.

He said the organisation was delighted to receive Obasanjo, popularly known as Opa Sonjo, adding that his decision to join reflected his willingness to contribute to Nigeria’s growth and development.

The coordinator further expressed optimism that Obasanjo would bring his knowledge and experience to bear in advancing the movement’s objectives.
