Fourteen people have been charged in connection with an alleged cocaine trafficking operation linked to two fraternities at Pennsylvania State University.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said 13 of the suspects were students when the alleged activities took place between 2023 and 2024, while the 14th suspect, the father of one of the students, is accused of concealing drugs and cash in a safe. At least four of those charged are reportedly current students.

Investigators allege that senior fraternity members Agostino Abbatiello and Thomas Robinson led the operation, making regular trips to Philadelphia and New York to obtain large quantities of cocaine. The drugs were allegedly distributed to Penn State students, with some members cutting and packaging them at the Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi fraternity houses.

Authorities described the group as a coordinated and profitable drug-trafficking operation involving senior fraternity members, other members and pledges.

Abbatiello, Robinson, Mohammed Hurabi and Lars Zeepvat face felony charges including corrupt organizations, conspiracy and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity. Robert Zanolla is charged with felony conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility and related offences.

Paul Robinson, the father of one of the suspects, faces charges of tampering with evidence and hindering an investigation, while the remaining defendants face misdemeanor charges related to drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said they used various investigative methods to trace how the cocaine was obtained, packaged and sold, with payments reportedly made mainly in cash or through payment applications.

Penn State said it was “horrified” by the allegations and announced the interim suspension of Delta Upsilon while the university conducts its own investigation. The institution said current students and the fraternity could face disciplinary action separate from the criminal proceedings, including possible permanent separation from the university.
