The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recovered additional components from its ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as search and recovery operations continue at the site.

The Air Force disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. According to the statement, specialist divers from the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) are working alongside the NAF recovery team to retrieve materials from underwater locations and other hard-to-reach areas.

The NAF explained that the recovery operation involves several technical methods, including hydrographic surveys, satellite-based search-and-rescue imagery, mud excavation and water removal to gain access to targeted locations.

The service added that the teams are working around the clock to recover relevant materials for documentation and preservation as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.

“Additional aircraft components have been recovered as efforts continue to locate and retrieve relevant materials for documentation and preservation in support of the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.

The recovery operation involves personnel from the NAF, Nigerian Navy and NSIB. While specialist divers are conducting underwater searches, other teams are working to access difficult-to-reach areas where materials relevant to the investigation may be located.
