The Gombe State Police Command apprehended Rabilu Adamu for the abduction and tragic murder of his three-year-old nephew, Ismail Sadi. Rabilu Adamu, a resident of Gombe Abba in Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State, was arrested alongside his accomplice, Ado Yusuf, aged 28, hailing from Soro in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State. They were arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide.
According to the spokesperson of the Gombe State Police Command, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the incident came to light when Malam Sadi Musa of Gombe Abba in Dukku LGA of Gombe State filed a formal complaint with the police on October 20, 2023. He reported that on October 18, 2023, around 10:00 AM, he discovered that his three-year-old son, Ismail Sadi, had been kidnapped by an unknown individual. He later became suspicious of his nephew, Rabilu Adamu, due to his unusual behavior during the search for the missing child.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Officer in charge of the Gombe Abba Police Outstation and his team swiftly responded to the scene, apprehending Rabilu and taking him to the police station for questioning.
After a thorough investigation, the suspect admitted to handing Ismail over to his accomplice, Ado Yusuf, who resides in Zoro village, Darazo LGA, Bauchi State, following the abduction at Gombe Abba village. A team of police operatives attached to the Dukku Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), took action and successfully apprehended Ado Yusuf, who initially denied having the victim in his custody upon reaching the Dukku Divisional Police Headquarters.
During interrogations, both suspects confessed to abducting the victim on October 18, 2023, around 10:00 AM, taking him to an undisclosed location, tying him with a rope, and leaving him there until 11:00 PM.
Further investigation uncovered that after abducting the three-year-old boy, the suspects tragically took his life, placed his body in a sack, and brought it to the room of Rabilu, who happened to be his cousin. At the time of recovery by the police, the body had already begun to decompose. The authorities certified the victim’s condition in the hospital, while the suspects voluntarily confessed to their involvement in the crime.
