According to reports, bandits have taken the district head of Ruwan Rana in Zamfara State, Magaji Makau, and five other individuals captive. Tragically, one person lost their life during the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 28, when the bandits entered Ruwan Rana town.

An eyewitness from the area, Mohammed Musa, informed Punch that the assailants arrived in Ruwan Rana at around 3 a.m., initiating the attack with indiscriminate gunfire. Subsequently, they proceeded to go from house to house, abducting the district head and five other prominent residents. Regrettably, one individual was killed when they resisted abduction.

Musa recounted the terrifying events, stating, “We heard gunshots around 3 a.m., and everyone sought refuge because we knew the bandits were there to abduct. They systematically went from one residence to another, taking five people, including our district head, and they shot and killed an individual who refused to be taken.”

The incident was brought to Musa’s attention the following morning when he learned that the district head, Alhaji Makau, was among those abducted.

Hon Hamisu Faru, a member of the state House of Assembly representing the area, also confirmed the occurrence and reported that security forces were actively working to secure the release of the district head and the other five abducted individuals.
