
A 20-year-old man, Lawisi Safiyanu, has been arrested by the police in Jigawa State for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old customer, identified as Muhammad Abba, to death following a dispute over a ₦500 balance from the purchase of a mobile phone.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, at Chamo village in Dutse Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, Abba purchased a mobile phone from Safiyanu for ₦1,500 but paid ₦1,000, leaving an outstanding balance of ₦500. A disagreement reportedly followed over the unpaid balance and later escalated, with Safiyanu allegedly using a knife to stab Abba.
The victim was rushed to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for medical attention but reportedly died while receiving treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was arrested shortly afterward.
Police also said the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered and preserved as an exhibit.
The command further stated that its investigation had been concluded and that the suspect had been charged to court to face the law.
