Abducted Egyptian National Rescued by Police in Oyo State

Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have successfully rescued an Egyptian national just 24 hours after he was abducted in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.

In a statement released on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, confirmed that the rescue was carried out without any ransom payment.

“The Oyo State Police Command is pleased to announce the successful completion of a rescue operation that led to the safe recovery of an Egyptian national who was kidnapped on the morning of Monday, September 8th, 2025, in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre, Oyo State,” the statement read.

According to CSP Adewale, the operation was launched under the strategic leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, psc (+), and was carried out with remarkable speed and coordination.

The rescue team comprised officers from the 4 PMF Ibadan, intelligence and tactical units of the command, local vigilantes, and in collaboration with operatives from the Ogun State Police Command.

“Through strategic planning, intelligence gathering, and swift action, the combined team combed forest and border areas between Ogun and Oyo States to locate the victim. The operation led to the victim’s safe recovery without any ransom being paid,” the statement added.

The rescued individual is currently receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan, and will be reunited with his family once cleared.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, reaffirming their commitment to public safety and maintaining peace across Oyo State.
