Abuja police arrest two for car theft

On April 23, 2024, the operatives of the FCT police command made a significant breakthrough by apprehending two notorious robbery kingpins, Ibrahim Haliru, a 45-year-old ex-convict from Kano State, and Babangida Mohammed, a 27-year-old from Mararaba, Nasarawa State. The arrests were made in connection to a string of car thefts targeting unsuspecting residents in the FCT and its surroundings.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the apprehended suspects, who had been evading law enforcement for several months, were tracked down and captured with the assistance of digital reconstruction intelligence. The operation culminated in their arrest at a hotel in Nasarawa State, where they were found indulging in the luxuries obtained from their criminal activities.

During the arrest, law enforcement recovered five stolen vehicles and various items suspected to be charms, which were presumably used in their illicit endeavors. Adeh emphasized the importance of residents taking proactive measures to safeguard their belongings.
