Arsenal began their 2026/27 campaign in style, defeating Manchester City 3-0 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to lift the Community Shield.
The Gunners made a blistering start, taking the lead just seconds into the game after Myles Lewis-Skelly picked out Riccardo Calafiori inside the box. The Italian kept his composure to slot the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma, who had committed himself early.
Arsenal doubled their advantage before half-time when Donnarumma failed to hold Kai Havertz’s header, allowing the ball to end up in the back of the net.
The Premier League champions continued to dominate after the break and sealed an emphatic victory when Martin Odegaard dribbled into the box before calmly finishing to make it 3-0.
The victory handed Mikel Arteta’s side the first silverware of the new season.
Arsenal will begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry City on Friday, while Manchester City will face Bournemouth.
