In the culmination of 2023, Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured the sixth position in Africa and were ranked 42nd globally in the latest FIFA monthly standings.

Throughout the year, the Naija stars encountered only one defeat but notched up four victories and three draws. Meanwhile, Morocco maintained its top spot in Africa, holding onto the 13th position globally, while Senegal retained the 20th place worldwide, securing the second spot in Africa.

Tunisia stayed firm in the rankings, occupying the third position in Africa and 28th place globally. Algeria and Egypt, part of Africa’s top five teams, concluded the year in the 30th and 33rd positions globally, respectively.

On the world stage, Argentina, the reigning world champions, maintained their numero uno status after a 1-0 triumph over Brazil in the recent World Cup qualifier. France secured the second position, followed by England, Belgium, and Brazil in the top five. The remainder of the global top 10 comprised Holland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia.

Anticipated by football enthusiasts, the next FIFA ranking is scheduled for publication on February 15, 2024.
