US President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticized Canada, saying the country “should be grateful” to the United States, a day after Prime Minister Mark Carney warned of a potential rupture in the US-led global system.
“I watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn’t so grateful,” Trump told participants at the World Economic Forum, referring to Carney’s speech, which received a rare standing ovation in Davos.
“Canada exists because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements,” Trump added.
