A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of a 24-year-old man, Elijah Innocent, in correctional custody over the alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the defendant is accused of committing an offence punishable under Section 265(1) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
Inspector Oriyomi also informed the court that the case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case until July 8 for mention.
