Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Two individuals have been confirmed deceased, and six others sustained injuries near Car Park C turning of Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The single-vehicle accident involved a Toyota bus with the license plate ACA607XT and occurred at approximately 2:21 am on Tuesday, December 26. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, revealed this information in a statement provided to journalists.

The injured victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital’s morgue. The Sector Commander of the FRSC Ogun Sector Command, Anthony Uga, expressed sadness over motorists’ disregard for basic traffic regulations, particularly the speed limit, which has contributed to fatal incidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and urged motorists to prioritize safe driving practices for their own well-being.

The statement included, “The crash occurred in the early hours of today, Tuesday, December 27, 2023, at about 02:21 hrs around Car Park C turning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A total of eight persons were involved, all male adults; six were injured, and two persons were recorded dead. The vehicle involved was with registration number ACA607XT, a Toyota Hiace bus. The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed, which led to the loss of control, and the vehicle crashed.”
