FG announces Wednesday as a public holiday.

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, September 27, 2023, as a public holiday in honor of the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister extends warm congratulations to the Muslim community on the occasion. He encourages them to embrace the profound virtues of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Additionally, the Minister calls upon the youth to adopt a strong work ethic and promote peaceful coexistence with fellow citizens, regardless of differences in faith, ideology, social status, or ethnicity.
