A part of the Rivers State Secretariat complex, specifically the Podium Block, was engulfed in flames today, October 6.
Videos from the scene captured thick smoke rising from the building, sparking panic among workers and prompting evacuations. The Podium Block accommodates several state ministries, including departments of works and social welfare.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
The state government has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
