Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong signs for Qatari side Al Ahli SC

Qatar Stars League club Al Ahli SC have announced the signing of former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong.

The central defender joins the Doha-based side from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Kholood, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2028. Troost-Ekong has been assigned his preferred No. 5 jersey and is expected to play a pivotal role as Al Ahli aim to finish the season on a strong note.

Reacting to the move, the 32-year-old expressed his excitement on social media. “Next chapter! Happy to be here and part of the @ahliqat family!” he wrote.

Troost-Ekong made 49 appearances for Al Kholood, scoring twice while providing leadership and defensive solidity throughout his time at the club.

His arrival is widely regarded as a significant boost for Al Ahli SC as they continue to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
