“Four Kidnapped Victims Rescued by Troops in Taraba”

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued four kidnapped victims in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued on Friday, April 4, 2025. He revealed that the victims have been safely reunited with their families.

“As part of its ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Taraba State, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have achieved another significant success under the ongoing military operation code-named OPERATION LAFIYAN JAMAA,” the statement read.

The operation, aimed at dismantling banditry and other criminal activities, has significantly enhanced security across many communities in the state. One such community, Andamin in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, has expressed deep gratitude to the Nigerian Army for its efforts.

During a solidarity visit to the troops’ camp in Andamin, the Youth Leader, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, speaking on behalf of the youth, praised the dedication and commitment of the soldiers in ensuring peace and security in the area. He highlighted the notable improvements in the security situation and promised continued support from the local community.

In a gesture of appreciation, the youths of Andamin pledged to construct a borehole at the camp to support the troops’ operations and welfare. The project is expected to be completed within three days.

In another development, on April 3, 2025, troops of the 6 Brigade swiftly responded to credible intelligence regarding an ongoing kidnapping incident in Kallong village, also within Karim Lamido LGA. The troops’ rapid response caused the kidnappers to flee, leaving behind the victims. As a result, four individuals were successfully rescued and have since been returned to their families.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the troops for their swift and professional response, reaffirming the Brigade’s commitment to securing all communities within its jurisdiction. He also encouraged local residents to continue providing timely and reliable information to support ongoing operations.

The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property, and urges all peace-loving citizens to continue supporting the military’s efforts to restore lasting peace to Taraba State.
