The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the retail price of petrol at some of its filling stations in Abuja.
A market survey conducted on Sunday, September 27, found that NNPCL outlets in Gwarimpa, Kubwa and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory had adjusted their pump price from ₦1,430 to ₦1,405 per litre.
However, some NNPCL stations, including those along the Kubwa Expressway, Air Junction and Wuse Zones 4 and 5, continued to sell petrol at ₦1,395 per litre.
The variations mean petrol prices at NNPCL retail outlets across Abuja differ by as much as ₦10 per litre, depending on location.
Other major and independent marketers, including MRS, Ranoil, AA Rano and Empire Energy, were selling petrol at prices ranging between ₦1,395 and ₦1,430 per litre across the Federal Capital Territory.
The latest price adjustment follows Dangote Refinery’s decision to reduce its gantry price for petrol by ₦25 per litre, bringing it down to ₦1,325.
Despite the reduction by some NNPCL outlets, many filling stations have yet to adjust their pump prices. Consumers continue to call for further reductions amid movements in international crude oil prices, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) trading at about $92 per barrel and Brent crude at approximately $104 per barrel.
