Gunmen abduct 10-year-old boy in Yobe, demand ransom

Suspected kidnappers have abducted a 10-year-old boy after invading his family home in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State and are reportedly demanding a ransom for his release.

The incident was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the report, the attack occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on July 25, when four armed men stormed the residence of Bukar Umar in Andarashi village.

The assailants, said to be armed with bows and arrows, cutlasses and sticks, allegedly abducted the victim, identified as Abdullahi Isa, before fleeing to an unknown location.

The kidnappers later contacted the family by telephone and demanded a ransom for the boy’s release.

Following the incident, police authorities deployed operatives to the area, while the Officer-in-Charge of the State Investigation Department (SID) was directed to commence technical tracking of the phone number reportedly used by the abductors.

According to the report, police said efforts are ongoing to rescue the child safely and apprehend those behind the abduction.
