Gunmen Abduct Son of APGA Chieftain in Anambra

Gunmen have abducted Ifesinachi Onyekere, a prominent businessman and son of the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Anambra State.

Onyekere, who serves as the Managing Director of Fish Magnet, was reportedly attacked around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno community near Awka.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants arrived in an ash-colored Lexus SUV, forced their way into the compound, shot Onyekere in the leg, and fled with him in his own navy blue Toyota Corolla. The vehicle’s registration number has not been confirmed.

Sources say the attackers escaped through bush paths heading toward Nawfia, sparking panic in the area. Local security groups and community volunteers have since launched a search operation, while efforts are underway to trace the victim’s phone and establish contact with the kidnappers.

As of the time of this report, Onyekere’s whereabouts remain unknown. His family has called for calm and is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist security agencies.
