Jax Gratton, a 34-year-old hairstylist who had been missing since mid-April, has been found dead, according to a heartbreaking statement from her mother.

In an emotional post on Facebook, Cherilynne Gratton-Camis shared the devastating news:
“With a broken heart, I share the news that our beloved Jax Gratton has been found — and she is no longer with us. The light she carried, the love she gave so freely, and the joy she brought into our lives have been taken from this world far too soon.”

Gratton-Camis expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of support during the search for Jax:
“To everyone who shared her story, her photo, sent a prayer or kind word — thank you. To those who never stopped searching — we felt your love.”

She also honored Jax as a proud trans woman and reflected on the broader significance of her daughter’s identity:
“Jax helped me better understand the LGBTQIA+ community. This isn’t just about her — it’s about everyone who simply wants to live, love, and exist in safety. That should never be a battle — and yet, it still is.”

“Jax Gratton was a light — unapologetically, fiercely, and fully herself. I see her in every act of love and strength you’ve shown.”

Jax was last seen on April 15 around 10 p.m., leaving her Denver apartment and telling her roommate she’d be gone for a few hours. She never returned.

The Lakewood Police Department confirmed that a body was discovered on Friday, but have not yet released further details. An investigation is ongoing.

Jax’s mother had previously raised concerns about her daughter’s safety, citing a history of abusive relationships and fearing that foul play may have been involved in her disappearance.
