Former Minister of Education and ex-Minister of Mineral Resources, Oby Ezekwesili, emphatically stated that she did not authorize the purchase of new cars during her tenures in both ministries. She conveyed this message via her social media account in response to criticism from some Nigerians who took issue with her strong words directed at members of the National Assembly. These lawmakers had recently made plans to procure new vehicles, each costing millions of Naira.

Expressing her frustration, Ezekwesili used her social media platform to condemn the legislators, branding them as an “incorrigible bunch of lawbreakers.” In response, some Nigerians questioned her for reproaching the lawmakers and alleged that she had also acquired new vehicles when she held ministerial positions.

In her reply, Ezekwesili clarified that she had never acquired new vehicles during her tenure. Instead, upon assuming her roles, she directed the permanent secretary to maintain and repair the existing vehicles used by her predecessors.
