Reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian has spoken out following the conclusion of her jewelry heist trial, calling the 2016 robbery “the most terrifying experience of my life.”
Kardashian, 44, was the victim of a high-profile armed robbery during Paris Fashion Week in 2016. While staying in a private residence, she was held at gunpoint and robbed of approximately \$9 million worth of jewelry, including a 20-carat diamond ring given to her by her then-husband, Kanye “Ye” West, according to prosecutors.
On May 23, a French court convicted eight individuals in connection with the robbery. One person was acquitted, and another was found guilty of a weapons charge unrelated to the Kardashian heist. Most of the defendants are in their 60s and 70s.
In a statement following the verdict, Kardashian expressed her appreciation for the French justice system and reflected on the emotional toll of the incident.
“I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case,” she said. “The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family. While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.”
Her legal team—Michael Rhodes, Léonor Hennerick, and Jonathan Mattout—also issued a statement thanking the court and French authorities for their professionalism and respect throughout the legal process.
They emphasized the emotional journey Kardashian has endured since the 2016 incident, noting her bravery in returning to Paris to face her assailants in court.
The trial began on April 28 in Paris and featured testimony from Kardashian, her longtime friend, and others involved in the case.
