Kobbie Mainoo has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new five-year contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031.

The 21-year-old midfielder’s previous deal, agreed in 2023 when he was just 17, had been set to run until the summer of 2027. His new contract reflects his development and growing importance within the first team.

A product of United’s academy, Mainoo had reportedly considered a loan move to SSC Napoli during the January transfer window after slipping down the pecking order earlier in the season.

Speaking to the club, Mainoo expressed his deep connection to United: he described it as his lifelong home and a club that holds huge meaning for his family. He also reflected on his journey through the academy  from The Cliff to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford  calling it an incredible experience.

Mainoo added that he is living his dream every day and remains driven by the same determination he had when he first joined the club at six years old. He also spoke of a growing sense of momentum at United and his ambition to help the team compete consistently for major trophies in the future.

Director of football Jason Wilcox praised Mainoo as one of the most naturally gifted young players in world football, adding that the club believes he can develop into a key figure in a team capable of challenging for the game’s biggest honours.
