Lagos council chairman impeached

The Chairman of Onigbongbo local council development area (LCDA),Oladotun Olakanle has been impeached over alleged financial misappropriation.

 

Olakanle was impeached on Tuesday March 30, after majority leader of the legislative arm of the LCDA, Kayode Opayemi moved a motion for impeachment. The motion was supported by Adebayo Daudu, the chief whip.

 

He was accused of gross financial misappropriation, false proclamation of project never done by the LCDA with the intention of defrauding the LCDA of millions of naira among others.

 

The most ranked political office holder in the LCDA has been directed to take up responsibilities related to the office of chairman.
