A 25-year-old woman, Kehinde Onize, has reportedly been hacked to death by her husband, Sadiq Ibrahim, a meat seller popularly known as Alfa Eleran, during a domestic dispute in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to Channels Television, the incident occurred while the couple was attending a meeting organised by family friends to mediate their marital dispute.

The couple had reportedly visited the residence of a friend of the deceased’s father, who had offered to intervene in the matter. However, the mediation reportedly turned violent after an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.

Ibrahim allegedly attacked Kehinde with a machete, repeatedly striking her and inflicting fatal injuries before fleeing the scene.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s cousin, Lawrence Yusuf, said Kehinde had been secretly planning to leave the marriage after noticing that some of her clothes and underwear had mysteriously disappeared from their home.

Yusuf said she had planned to travel to her sister’s residence on Thursday, September 10, under the pretext of going on a work trip.

He further alleged that Kehinde was invited to the mediation venue on Wednesday morning by the mediator’s wife, without being told that her husband would also be present.

The suspect reportedly remains at large, while police have taken several people who were present at the scene into custody as part of their investigation.

The family has appealed to security agencies to arrest the suspect and ensure justice for Kehinde. They also alleged that Ibrahim took the victim’s mobile phone when he fled, expressing concern that it could contain important evidence.

“We want him to be found and arrested. We want justice for our daughter. Her parents are in pain, and my family is in serious agony. She didn’t deserve this,” Yusuf said.

The Ekiti State Police Command has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
