Naira appreciates to 7.2% against dollar at official market

On Friday, April 12, the Naira witnessed a significant appreciation at the official market, reaching N1,142.38 against the dollar.

The improvement in the Naira’s value was evident from data obtained from the official trading platform of the FMDQ Exchange. The platform, responsible for overseeing the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, indicated that the Naira gained N88.23. This signifies a notable 7.16 percent increase compared to the previous trading session on Monday, where it traded at N1,230.61 to a dollar before the Sallah holiday.

The total daily turnover also saw a considerable rise, reaching $281.34 million on Friday, up from $125.55 million recorded on Monday, April 8.

Meanwhile, at the Investor’s and Exporter’s window, the Naira was seen trading within the range of N1,265 and N1,100 against the dollar.
