The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has announced the identification of two suspected cases of Ebola disease in Nigeria’s North-East region.
The agency disclosed this in a statement shared via its official X handle on Saturday, October 31.
According to the NCDC, both individuals have been isolated, while efforts to identify and list their contacts are ongoing. Laboratory tests are also being conducted to determine whether they have contracted the virus.
The agency, however, clarified that being classified as suspected cases does not mean the individuals have tested positive for Ebola, stressing that confirmation will depend on laboratory results.
Meanwhile, the public has been urged to maintain proper hand hygiene, practise enhanced sanitation and adhere to guidelines issued by public health authorities.
The NCDC added that further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
