The Edo State Government has demolished a bungalow and boys’ quarters allegedly belonging to a suspected organ harvester and ritualist, identified as 40-year-old Ebhata Eromosele, in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.

The suspect was reportedly arrested by the Edo State Security Corps, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies following surveillance operations in the area.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the state government also announced the demolition of a building in Idi-Negbon, Eguare Ewatto, allegedly used for cult-related activities.

According to the statement, the demolitions were carried out by the Edo State Special Security Squad, codenamed Operation Flush Out Kidnappers and Cultists, in collaboration with other security agencies under the supervision of the governor’s Principal Security Officer.

The government said Eromosele’s bungalow and boys’ quarters, located in Uwalor-Oke, Uromi, were allegedly used for ritual activities and organ harvesting involving three young women. One of the alleged victims, a pregnant woman, reportedly died, while another was hospitalised and later discharged. The third victim is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Esan Central Senatorial District.

Speaking to journalists after the operation in Uromi and Ewatto, the coordinator of the special security squad, Amiolemen Idemudia, said the government was determined to rid the state of criminal activities.

He alleged that a body found in connection with a killing had been traced to the bungalow linked to the suspect.

Idemudia added that a search of the property uncovered a bloodstained bedspread and other items that security operatives described as incriminating evidence.

He said Governor Monday Okpebholo had warned that his administration would not tolerate such criminal activities and would take action against properties allegedly used to facilitate crime.

On the demolition in Ewatto, Idemudia said the action followed reports of cult-related clashes that had disrupted peace in the community. He alleged that a man identified as Bright Ejetuwamen had used his property for cult-related activities. He added that the suspect had been apprehended and the property demolished.

The zonal commander of the Edo State Security Corps, SP Johnson Oyameda (rtd.), attributed Eromosele’s arrest to more than a month of surveillance following reports of bodies found mutilated and abandoned in the area.

Oyameda said the surveillance operation led security operatives to the suspect’s residence, where they allegedly recovered a bloodstained bedspread and other items.

He further alleged that three women had been attacked in separate incidents linked to the suspect, with one reportedly dying, another receiving hospital treatment and the third subsequently discharged.

The state government said the suspected ritualist and the alleged cultist had been arrested and were in the custody of the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Authorities said the demolitions were intended to deter criminal activities and reinforce the government’s security measures across the state.
