Comoros have booked a second-round clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons after dismantling Sudan 30-0 on aggregate in the first round of the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games women’s football tournament.

The Coelacanths produced a remarkable display over two legs, recording a 17-0 victory in the first encounter on June 3 before completing the rout with a 13-0 win five days later.

In the opening match, Comoros took the lead after just eight minutes and never looked back, delivering a relentless attacking performance that left Sudan overwhelmed. Nine different players found the back of the net, underlining the team’s attacking depth and dominance.

The return leg on Monday, June 8, followed a similar pattern. Comoros scored three times before halftime and added 10 more goals in the second half to seal a comprehensive 13-0 victory.

Their emphatic 30-0 aggregate triumph sets up a daunting second-round showdown against Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s national team.

Nigeria will head into the tie as overwhelming favourites. The Super Falcons, coached by Justine Madugu, recently secured back-to-back friendly victories over Senegal, winning 2-1 in the first meeting before claiming a convincing 3-0 triumph at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Monday night.

The second-round qualifiers are scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13, 2026. Two African nations will earn qualification spots for the women’s football competition at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.
