Ondo Court Detains Man for Threatening Father with Machete

A 30-year-old man, Atiaro Emmanuel, has been arraigned before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening to kill his father, Atiaro Mattew.

The police charged the defendant before Magistrate B.A. Ikusika on a four-count charge.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 12, 2024, at around 6:00 a.m. at Iwornin Quarters, Oka Akoko, within the Oka Akoko Magisterial District.

Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant threatened his father with a machete, an offence contrary to Section 86 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Inspector Kehinde requested an adjournment to allow further study of the case file.

The defendant, who appeared without legal representation, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.

In his ruling, Magistrate B.A. Ikusika ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until August 6, 2025.
