Peter Obi: You can’t block terrorists, it’s only Igbos – Ejimakor blasts Benue youths

Human rights lawyer Aloy Ejimakor has criticised youths who allegedly barricaded a major road in Benue State to prevent former presidential candidate Peter Obi from proceeding with his scheduled visit.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 8, shortly after Obi arrived in the state. Suspected thugs reportedly blocked an access road near Gyado Villa along Gboko Road in Makurdi, preventing Obi’s convoy from proceeding to its scheduled engagements.

Reacting to the incident in a statement shared on his official X account, Ejimakor questioned why the youths had not similarly confronted armed groups accused of carrying out deadly attacks across the state.

The lawyer alleged that Obi was singled out because of his Igbo ethnic background and drew parallels between the incident and what he described as historical political mistakes that contributed to divisions during the Nigerian Civil War.

“These Benue protesters and thugs that barricaded and stopped Peter Obi from entering Benue, let me ask you: When will you barricade the terrorists that have been killing thousands in your state? Or is it only when it comes to the Igbo? This is how you messed yourselves up in the Civil War,” Ejimakor wrote.
