The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits as investigations continue into criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent killing of three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-driven operations carried out on June 5, 2026, across the Soda Forest corridor and neighbouring border communities.

According to Usman, operatives of the Mobile Police Force, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three suspects riding a Haojue motorcycle along the Illo–Lolo Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly transporting food supplies from the Soda Forest area to bandits hiding in forest camps and border settlements.

The motorcycle used by the suspects was recovered during the operation.

In a separate raid conducted along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, security personnel arrested four additional suspects as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the area.

The seven suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are underway to determine their roles in various criminal activities and establish any links to recent attacks in the state, particularly the incident that resulted in the deaths of three FRSC officers.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar Hadejia, described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the command’s sustained campaign against banditry and other violent crimes. He reiterated the police’s commitment to strengthening security and ensuring that those involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.
