The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a prominent politician, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto, popularly known as “Okanga Mo,” in Nsukka.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Ndukwe said Oloto, 53, was found in a pool of blood at his residence with deep suspected machete wounds to his head and stomach.
He said the police received a report at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, that Oloto had been found injured at his residence in Odenigbo, Nsukka.
According to him, police operatives responded promptly and rushed the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
His remains were deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the police have launched a manhunt for the suspected assailants.
The spokesperson added that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder.
